In Memory of Paul Yandell

I recorded this video this morning in memory of Paul as they laid him to rest. I recorded it using Chet's Peaver guitar that Paul built for him. I know I didn't do it justice, but I wanted to do something this morning to honor Paul.

Odell played that song alot with a dropped E to D on the 6th string. That was a nice tribute to Paul since he loved so much. Thanks. EP

Eddie, thanks for the info about Odell Martin playing that song. That's information that I didn't know. I would have liked to hear him play that. I was just looking for a fitting song that I play that didn't have the normal thumb rhythm, because thumbstyle don't work real well with the Peaver guitar. I don't play the Peaver too much, because I'm not very good with a solid body guitar. I've played big Gretsch guitars most of my life. Chet always amazed me with the Peaver. Chet recorded about 13 songs with this guitar. I put a CD together of all his Peaver recordings from different albums and I also included the song that Pat Bergeson used the guitar on. I thought When Ring Those Golden Bells was fitting and I thought it would be fitting to record it on the Peaver since Paul built it for Chet.

Eddie,
It has two EMG-S single coil pickups powered by one 9 battery. (NOT the EMG-SA). One in the middle position and one at the bridge position. The bridge pickup is slanted and the middle pickup is straight. No pickup at the neck. Master volume and two tone controls (one for each pickup). One 3 way pickup selector mini toggle switch.

The neck is a Fender Stratocaster 22 fret neck with an ebony fretboard. It has what I think they call "clay dot" inlays. The nut is black graphite. It has the skunk stripe on the back and mini schaller chrome tuners. It's 1 11/16" at the nut. Paul originally put a DiMarrzio neck on it, but he changed it to the better Fender neck.

The body is the early Peavey T-60 non-contoured type.

I can send you detailed photos of anything you want on it. If anyone wants detailed information I will answer you the best I can.

Hi Chuck, very nice! I would like to build a replica of that Peaver too. Sounds like Paul had to route another cavity for the middle pickup, unless the center is already routed out.
