Out of respect for Paul, I had thought of not posting anything this week except for my condolences. Then I got to thinking that Paul would want us to go on picking and asking each other questions. So, in that spirit, I have uploaded my arrangement of Goodnight Irene:

My arrangement is similar to Chet's (what I remember of it), and also has a strong Paul Yandell and Jerry Reed influence. I try to play the middle part similar to what I thought Paul might have played. Paul's inspiration even influenced my choice of pick, as I bought a set of Herco's based on his recommendation. (He used heavy gauge ... I use the gauge right below that.)

This is not really a tribute to Paul ... it's not good enough for that. But, of course, Paul weighed heavy on my mind as I played it.

Gary, I think I've mentioned before that I don't do tabs, because I just don't have the knack for it ... it would take me two or three weeks to do just one tune, and the whole time I worked on it I'd be rearranging my arrangement.

BUT, I am always happy to answer any questions about my picking. Maybe someday I'll put together a DVD that has all my videos on it in their original format, which provides better viewing that YouTube does. I'd probably have to fool with licensing on the tunes, though, which would be a real headache for the number of tunes involved (along with an expense that I'd probably never recover). An idea I've toyed with though.
