Is This an Original?

Postby keener » Sat Sep 24, 2011 4:37 pm

Tinkering around the past couple of days, trying to avoid the duty of changing strings, I have been playing the following tune:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Iy9yRDCMuQ

As far as I know, it is an original, but it certainly has parts that sound familiar to me, too. Hence, before claiming that it is an original, I thought I had best hear from the experts. Any of you know if this tune is not original?

Many thanks in advance.

Thank you Roger!

I'm hoping a lot of people answer so I can have confidence one way or the other on the originality.

Take care sir.
All my best

Nope, that is a George Beasley tune called "Bumpin' down the street with my home boys". You owe me some money. :)

JK. That is a great Keener original! Very nice! I might have to learn it!
Thanks,
George

Thanks Ron and George!

George, what a coincidence that I was going to name this "Bumpin' down the street with my home boys," but changed it at the last minute :D

Bruce, I have not heard that melody and I am sure you have an original tune. I really enjoyed it. It was certainly apropos (if i spelled that right) as a tribute. Thanks for sharing this and the others you have posted. I like your style.

Ray, thank you very much sir.

John Knowles commented on my Facebook entry that he believes it is original. Considering John's very broad knowledge of music, I am now confident that it is an original tune.

Thanks again to all who commented.

Bruce,
I've came up with a few original tunes myself. I always worry that I've heard it somewhere, or parts of it. I think it's because we listen to so much guitar music and that we are influenced by others.
Thanks,
