Jolene made it big time on Digg

Postby keener » Sun Aug 18, 2013 10:44 am

Dolly Parton's Jolene is one of my all time favorite songs, and dangled if I don't like the slowed down version even more:

I used to think Chester was the one on guitar (or Jerry). Anybody know who it actually was? The guitar is absolutely kickass on this.

Certainly sounds like Jerry... acoustic guitar, that Reed Rhythym and the doubling effect. Jerry really liked doubling his parts
...that's how it looks to me...The opinion expressed above is my own and does not necessarily reflect the views of this station. Your mileage may vary...

That should do it.

Chip Young played on Dolly's Jolene. He and Jerry were best friends and come to Nashville together. EP

Thanks Eddie! Marvelous picking. I guess Chip is still around ... maybe he'll outlive us all!

Yes Chip is doing pretty good.He will probably be at the Hall of Fame weekend in Muhlenberg. Chip is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

Bruce, Thanks for posting. I didn't hear it slowed down before. I had to convince myself it was Dolly by recording it and speeding it up. It's Dolly! Record it once and release it as a two-fer - intere$ting idea.
