David, I enjoyed those videos. He has an uncanny resemblance to Chet. I was really struck by that when the first video came up. I think I remember Paul saying that he couldn't watch Claus play because it was so painful to see that face that looked so much like Chet. Thanks for posting these.

Jack, I've used your tabs, too. They've been a great source for my education, too. I can't actually copy any of them note for note, but I do get off to a better start by using them. I have most of the books with Chet's songs and many of John Knowles' quarterly issues, but your site has some songs that don't appear anywhere else.

I've been working hard on 'A Man and a Woman' the way Claes Neeb plays it. I understand that it comes from the music book called, "Chet Atkins Goes to the Movie" and it's tabbed? I sure would like a copy of that - I desperately need the tab. Please keep an eye out for that book and let me know if you see it.

Thanks for that information Ray. I was able to get a copy of it and it's helping very much. I'm pretty sure that Claes is playing it just a little different than written in the note for note. I very much like his version and I've been practicing it every day. I hope to do a video for you all soon.

I have some great memories from working on the "Chet Goes To The Movie" project. Shortly after I met Chet in Dallas, he asked me to work with him on some arrangements and a book to be published by Guitar Player magazine. (I turned a back flip.) I recommended we do notation and TAB but the guys at GP could read music and they didn't think guitarists who could play Chet's music would need TAB. I had studied classical guitar and I knew to write Chet's music like classical guitar music but I didn't know how important TAB would be. I did what I could to include chord diagrams and explanations. Overall, it was a breakthrough because at that time, publishers weren't convinced that anyone could learn to play Chet's music. About that same time, Tommy Flint did a book of Chet's tunes for Mel Bay. Before long, TAB and notation were everywhere, side-by-side.

If you have the "Goes To The Movies" book, take a look at the notation. I wrote it all with a fountain pen… and several bottles of white-out.

A fountain pen?!...that is amazing John. I have that Tommy Flint book, it was the first Chet book I ever bought and I've copied the tunes on the CD that came with that book to my hard drive. Even though that Mel Bay Tommy Flint book had easy stuff in it - it took a beginner through the tunes pretty fast and things got difficult pretty quick also BUT...those easy tunes sounded so cool with the alternating thumb. Tommy's thumb really stood out too. I don't know if that's Tommy talking in there but that voice is kinda funny, a real low voice annunciating the words to perfection and some times really slow too.

I was studying the chord diagrams and explanations to 'A Man and a Woman' just today in fact. They really help out in figuring out the tune. I hope I get it memorized very soon. After the memory phase is over it's just commanding the fingers where to go... (why don't they listen?)
