I wonder if anyone know who owns the original negatives of the color films of Chet from the 50s.
If they were ever remastered and had the sound synched right and released in High Definition they would '
be amazing.
Re: Gannaway Opry films
I agree.
It's sad this hasn't been done already. Someone, somewhere probably has the goods.

Re: Gannaway Opry films
Hi,
I have two American videos Volumes 10 and 11 called 'Tribute Grand Ole Opry Stars of the Fifties' which are part of the Gannaway Productions series. They feature several country stars including Chet.
Vol 10 features Chet Playing 'Arkansas Traveller'
Vol 11 features Chet Playing 'Mr Sandman'
'Wildwood Flower'
'Jilted' with June Carter
'Arkansas Traveller' (again)
'Humouresque'
'Dark Eyes'
I also purchased a while back a DVD entitled 'Country Gold' which features tunes by Chet and, separately, webb Pierce. They seem to be from the Gannaway source. Chet plays nine numbers all of, with the exception of 'Mr Sandman' are well known tunes only with different titles. Can anyone throw light on this peculiarity?
All the best, Frank

It's a shame they don't spend some money and synch them. Of course I have no idea how difficult this might be with old stock like that

Re: Gannaway Opry films
This post may or may not be informative, but I saw the "host" post and decided to get involved. I have a VHS video tape entitled "Webb Pierce and Chet Atkins, which I have had for quite a number of years. The tape is produced by a firm called "Shanachie Records Corp" of unknown origin (where the company is based). It contains nine tunes by Chet, and the publisher's info is as follows:
Original film produced and direted by ALBERT GANNAWAY
Cover design and hand lettering by FRED CARLSON
(Copyright) 1991 SHANACHIE RECORDS CORP.
(Copyright) 1991 GANNAWAY PRODUCTIONS, INC.
Compiled from TRIBUTE GRAND OLE OPRY
STARS OF THE FIFTIES LIBRARY
Running Time: Approx 60 minutes / Color
Duplicated in real time SP mode
A disclaimer follows: The produce (services) described herein is not associated with the Grand Ole Opry, WSM, Inc. or Opryland USA, Inc.
So, that's it. I hope I have not bothered you with already-known information. Kent W Kistler
