I remember when this aired on American Music Shop on TNN. I love Paul's solo on this version, and Chet and Paul's harmonies. And what an ending!

That was the Gallagher, we have three of those guitars. Daddy knew how to reach in there and shave the braces and get the most out of a flat top, not counting the sunrise pickups. He made his own tool to shave those braces. Those AMS videos are some of my favorite, with Chet, Jerry, Pat and daddy, those guys played some incredible music.

This was my Dad's favorite tune, and might be mine, too (it's probably number two, with Summertime being number one ... close race, though). The harmony, and all of the work, that Paul gets on the recording is chillingly beautiful (it's shortened a little in this video from what I remember of the recording).

My Dad had a Gallagher with serial number 777. I can still remember going to Wartrace to pick it out, some 40ish years ago. I wound up giving it to my brother a couple of years ago, because it was going to waste (even when I do play now, which isn't often, it's just the Godin). But, it's going to waste with him, too, because he doesn't want to take the time to learn to play. Oh well.

Thanks again for this marvelous video. It represents the legacy of Chet and Paul together about as well as anything I've ever seen.

Wonderful video and a great example of how two great guitarists worked together to make some of the most beautiful music. Thanks for the insight, Micah. Chet took a guitar that was meant to play rhythm and got a beautiful tone out of it for lead. Paul's accompaniment, as always, was most tasteful and always just what was needed at the right time.

Isn't that GREAT stuff! Its is really amazing how Chet and Paul could play so well together, its like their souls were in synch. When Paul plays his harmony he catches every little nuance that Chet plays,,,that's so hard to do. Sometimes I would say, "Paul how in the world do you do that?" And he would give me one of those little wry looks of his and reply, "Oh, you just learn your part and play it when the time comes - not much to it" . . .I'd shake my head and say, "Yeah,,,right!" Then, usually he'd change the subject before I could brag on him anymore! He didn't like much of that (as we all know)
