On the first he demonstrates his new signature model Guild, in Austin, Texas...

On the second tune he plays Jerry Reed's 1962 (I think) double cutaway Gretsch Country Gentleman!

Those are great videos of Doyle. To my ear he is getting a deeper, fuller sound with the Guild guitar design than he does with the Taylor models. Both videos really show off Doyle's virtuosity on various guitar styles, especially when he demonstrates the Chet Atkins and Merle Travis styles.

I think that Doyle can make any guitar sound good. I attended a workshop last year where he played five different guitars from the music store, one of which was a new inexpensive archtop with the small plastic protective strip from shipping still under the bridge. Doyle tuned it up and played a song, and it sounded fantastic - even with the plastic strip still under the bridge.

I learned something very important that night - to a great degree it is not the guitar but the hands and heart of the player that count.
