Thom Bresh

Here's a really interesting video clip of Thom I hadn't seen before! Thom is (IMHO) one of the most talented guitarists around, as well as an all around entertainer in fact! It's in the genes, folks!

Warning though...this is a looong...video, so if you don't have about a half-hour (or more), watch it when you do! :)

It's a good clip. Thom Bresh is a fascinating man.

This is one of the wisdom things he talked about that we should all think about when we go to play for people, particularly when we make mistakes.

I paraphrased it a little because I like to stash and repeat quotes like this

Thom Bresh talked about playing a show once and seeing Chet Atkins in the audience. Thom claimed he “missed everything he tried for” yet after the show Chet was effusive about his playing. Thom told him that he hadn’t played what he had intended and Chet said, “I only heard what you played. I'm not a mind reader. I couldn't tell what you wanted to play.”

There’s a lesson in dealing with making mistakes there. Just play the thing. That’s all your audience wants you to do.
...that's how it looks to me...The opinion expressed above is my own and does not necessarily reflect the views of this station. Your mileage may vary...

That should do it.

Bill, the song is called "Sidewalks of Bordeaux". I believe it's from his album "Wires to the Wood".

That's correct Hendrik...a great album by the way!

Here's another example of some incredible guitar picking with Thom playing along with the great Nokie Edwards!

Folks, it doesn't get any better than this! 8-)
