Craig Dobbins Workshop

For those of you in the Alabama-Tennessee-Georgia area, I will be giving a "hometown workshop" in Gadsden, AL on Sunday, October 14, 2012, from 2-4 pm.

The workshop will cover fingerstyle guitar in general, with emphasis on "the greats"- Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Jerry Reed, Paul Yandell, etc. We will also cover some of my own influences beyond these players, and some of my originals and hymn arrangements, as time allows. Handout sheets and music will be provided (or emailed to you beforehand). Bring your guitar and be ready to learn! Don't be afraid to ask questions, either. I hope this will be a relaxed time of learning, music, and fun.

For whatever it's worth I second John McClellan's comments. Been to several of Craig's concerts and workshops at the Chet Convention and was never disappointed!

Craig, I wish I could be there. I've really come to respect you and all of your research and contribution over the years. I remember talking to you on the phone nearly 30 years ago, before Al Gore ever gave us the Internet (a joke) and over the past year or two I've come to respect you even more as a great guitarist, which should never be assumed just because someone contributes a lot to the field. Your YouTube performance of "Goin' Down the Road Feeling Bad" was very impressive with such accuracy at that tempo! You've inspired me! I also have all 3 years of your "Licks library". Have a great seminar and thanks for all that you do!
