This practically gave me chills listening to it. Talk about a tight, polished harmony.

One of my favorites co-written by Chet, and I enjoy playing it on guitar. The Louvin Brothers had an earlier recording of the song that perfectly fit their close harmony. The backup guitar on their recording has Chet-style licks and sound, and a nice 'tip of the hat' to him for writing the song.

I'm not too much into Alison Krauss' work and can't connect that closely to her voice, but in this case she really shines. I think she's at her best in those duets. Superb performance by both of them and a really good song from Chet and B.B.

To complete the list, here's Chet doing it himself at an Elvis tribute in Memphis in the mid-90s, making himself and his Gibson sing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-s7z726Dp4w

Thx, Phil!

The guitarist on the Louvins version was probably Jimmy Capps

Allison Krause can also give you chills just to WATCH her sing besides her beautiful and accurate singing voice.

Tony,
I've heard several tunes by Alison Krauss and dig her voice. Don't like all her tunes but she has some real winners. Check out these tunes.

Alison Krauss' voice is tops to me. And this song is a long time favorite of mine. Thanks for the post and I wonder if they are putting out an album together soon. Nice post Phil,

Thing about Alison is she sings with no vibrato in her voice. Most good singers add a touch of vibrato naturally or by training. To sing without vibrato means you need to hit the note accurately, I mean really accurately, and she does this. She most likely has perfect pitch or something close to it.

From another chat board

Most posts in this thread are commenting on intonation rather than perfect pitch.

From Wikipedia

Intonation, in music, is a musician's realization of pitch accuracy, or the pitch accuracy of a musical instrument. Intonation may be flat, sharp, or both, successively or simultaneously.

Perfect pitch is the ability to pluck a note accurately out of thin air - ie if asked to sing an 'A' you can!

Yes! Perfect pitch (aka absolute pitch) is NOT a requirement for good intonation.

I saw Alison Krauss live a few years back. She sang an a cappella duet with Dan Tyminski. Their intonation was flawless!

_________

Another site said she does, indeed, have perfect pitch

______

And she's like Emmy Lou in that she gets prettier as time passes... IMO
