Hi Fellers,
I STILL cannot get in the mood to play any. Guess that will eventually change. Or not.
In the meantime, I thought I'd float a rerun by you (from a couple of years ago) ... it's my oldest grandson's favorite of my videos. A medley of Yes Ma'am, This Masquerade, Taste of Honey, Lady Madona

Re: A ReRun
Hello Bruce,
I feel your pain. Over the last 10 years my interest in playing has dwindled down to just about nothing. There was a time when you couldn’t get the guitar out of my hands. I believe my wife was a little jealous of my guitar at that time. I was arranging and composing quite a bit but. Now, it is as if someone flipped a switch and the desire is gone. Kinda’ depressing I must say. :-/
We just gotta’ hang in there.

Re: A ReRun
Thank you very much everyone. Kirk, sorry to hear that I'm not the only one going through this. I hope you regain the love for playing.
Jack, a good idea except that I really don't even feel inspired to arrange songs. I have no interest in playing at all. None. Zip squat.
I've been reading Mary Karr's book about her struggles with alcoholism, suicide, and so on, and she mentions that the 12 Step program she went through encouraged her to pray every day whether she believed in God or not (and she did not believe). I've heard before that daily prayer helps those who are struggling with addiction, and perhaps I can learn from that --> perhaps I need to force myself to play every day, whether I want to or not, until the desire is there again.
Thanks again guys,
Bruce

Re: A ReRun
Bruce, I hope it all comes back to you. Ever since Mel McCullough lowered the action on my Godin, I'm putting in a fair amount of time every day on that particular guitar and am once again playing some of the material that I used to play on my Sand guitar. It's difficult to play certain things when "too much time" is spent pushing the strings down to the fret-board before moving to another fret position.
I need to have all obligations removed so that I have the time to practice the way I want to. I still play every day but "life" takes up too much of my time. People much younger than me have already been retired for quite some time.
