Fender Deluxe VM Amp?

Anyone out there own or tried a Fender Deluxe VM Amp?

Looks to me like it might be a good grab and go amp, sort of a cross between a Fender Deluxe Reverb and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with the added benefit of having basic digital effects onboard in a tube amp.

I would like to here from anyone that has tried this amp for Chet style pickin'.

I haven't tried the Fender Deluxe VM you asked about. I own a Blues Deluxe which was turned into a hot version and that's a great sounding amp, but no DSP.

I recently purchased a Fender Super Champ X2 and that is a great amp that I like better than the Blues Deluxe and my Musicman RD50. I purchased just the head and have been hooking up various speakers from other amps for now. I'm going to get a dedicated cabinet.

It's got 3 tubes, DSP and various voicings. You can tailor the amp using the Fender Fuse program and change the voices to what you want on the amp. I've been fooling around with that and it was easy to learn. I picked up the head for $250 on sale. The tone is hard to believe.

I had the older version of the Super Champ X2, it was the Super Champ XD. I really liked it except for the fact that the delay had fixed time settings. I notice that the new X2 version now has a tap button. I just had the combo unit with the stock speaker. At 15W it wasn't quite enough power for the churches that I play at that don't mike the amps. That's why I'm considering the Deluxe VM, it's 40W. To me a lot of amps sound good in the music store, but it's hard to tell what they sound like in a real world situation, like when I play at churches with other musicians. I may end up buying one of the Deluxe VM's one of these days. The Deluxe Reverb has always been one of my favorites @ 22W it works out good for me. It would be nice to have something with built in echo though, to haul around to churches. My Standel clone is great, but to heavy to haul around much.

The X2 won't be loud enough for you if you don't want to mike it, expecially if a Reissue Deluxe Reverb is not loud enough. It does have a line out. I don't play out, it's a home hobby, and they tell me to turn it down often so I'm okay with the X2. My Blues Deluxe gets very loud. Several of the on-line stores will let you return an amp (I've done it) so you could try one for a week or so and be careful not to mar it. They make you pay the return shipping, but that's an option.
Your Standel Clone sounds great as does Richard's.

Thanks for all the info and the nice comment on my Standel clone. Is that your Fender Super Champ X2 on your "Hello Bluebird"" recording? It sounds great whatever amp you used to record that!

Yes that was the X2 I used. It was a breeze to connect to my computer and record via usb. I didn't do any editing in Audacity except to amplify the file and then convert it to an MP3 - the entire thing is the amp. I know I can get much better tone, but I'm just learning how to use it. I have nothing to do with Fender and it's just an observation I wanted to share with the Chetboard.
