Gary,
It appears Doc is still not 'out of the woods' yet. Saturday evening the 'Song of the Mountains' PBS Television series from Lincoln Theatre in Marion, VA featured Doc with piano player Jeff Little in an impromptu performance recorded in 2010. Doc was having problems with his voice that evening, but his picking was as good as ever as he alternated between flat pickin' and Merle Travis thumb-pickin'. As Chet might say 'Doc has a good thumb'.

I have the "Elementary Doc Watson" CD in the car this weekend, and listening to Doc and Merle Watson at their peak. They made a great team. Doc's "Shady Grove" is one of my favorites.

Thanks
Ronnie Evans

I had the good fortune of being seated in the center of the second row during Doc and Jeff's concert at the Beautiful Lincoln theater in 2010.
Doc created a lot of excitement that evening by playing his custom Wayne Henderson guitar.
Doc was scheduled to be at Wayne fest last weekend but went to his heavenly home where he must be playing and singing to his heart's content.
I haven't been able to view or record the show in the DC area on pbs stations. Does anyone know how I can get to see it?

I read a good biography on Doc and I gotta say the man had moxie. Going to New York by bus alone. (or so the book implies) Braver man than I. The streets weren't as mean then but still... Quite a difference between the hills and hollows of N. Carolina and Times Square
...that's how it looks to me...The opinion expressed above is my own and does not necessarily reflect the views of this station. Your mileage may vary...

That should do it.
