Gayle,

I agree with you on simplicity. I'm always intimidated by amps with multiple channels and lots of knobs. I've never played a Standel, but I have played several early 50's Fender Pros with just a tone and a volume. I thought they sounded very good, and you can't get much simpler.

I think I may try one of the the MX series Lexicons - the most expensive one is only slightly higer than a good effects pedal. Maybe a local music store will have one that I can demo before I buy. Like you, I don't want something that's difficult to use.
