Yamaha Silent Guitar

Anyone have any experience with these? I'm thinking of buying a Godin but stumbled into the Yamaha. Looks sort of interesting - kinda?

I don't know much about the Yamaha. Classical guitarist Sharon Isbin has a Solette Travel Guitar that is built similar to the Yamaha. I also don't know much about the Solette, but there is information available about it on her website.

I have one. Comfortable to play. 2" board. I really like that you can plug a headset into it and play and not bother anyone. Or play it while watching TV. A good choice to travel with...breaks down easily and doesn't take up much room and you are not going to hurt anything if it gets banged around a little. Serves a purpose. Certainly a nice go to 2nd guitar.

I have the steel string version and I really like it. I keep it at work and use it to practice at lunch time. Component and sound quality are top notch.

I think the Travelers - there are many different models - a nicer feeling neck, are more thoughtfully designed, and, despite the odd look of some models, feel more like you are playing a full guitar. I am not sure about all the models but, I chose one that does not have an onboard amp. (I use a Zoom H4N as a headphone amp and the guitar sounds great.)

It is subjective thing and you may end up preferring the Yamaha but, these are definitely worth checking out. I did have some difficulty finding one store that stocked all the different models and had to go several stores in order to try all the models I was interested in.

I liked the Godin sound better. I'm REALLY loving my Godin Duet Ambiance. The 4 position mic blend really makes it quite 'natural' sounding.

Not sure about the reasoning behind that comparison. IMO, two whole completely different concepts. And I would assume price range.

The cool thing...is that you can listen to this through your mp3 headset and no one in the room is bothered.
