NS Lite arrived today. Best $8.50 I've spent in a long time. Don't know how they do it, but put it on, no retuning. Wonderful product !

I watched the video of Tommy Emmanuel using the Planet Waves Capo.I figured Tommy wouldn't steer us wrong.I was right.I purchased a Steel string and a Classical Capo ( both light weight aluminum).I played two gigs with a female vocalist this last Saturday afternoon and evening.To play the most open chords in her vocal range I tune a full step down and capo 50% of our songs.I am still stunned at this capo's performance.I did not have to touch the tuners on my 6120-59 LTV even once during both performances.I praised it so much my wife just laughed and shook her head.but,She's not a guitar player so I had to forgive her..............this time.It was just pure pleasure knowing when you started a song that you had no tuning problems.5 stars from me. Where is the best place to order the new Planet Waves Capos? I see Mitch quoted a price of $8.45, but everyplace I have checked they are $5-$10 more than that. Thanks.

Remember, Mitch ordered the NS Lite capo, which is a cheaper version made from molded ABS.

The capo that I recommended at the beginning of this thread is the standard NS capo, which is machined from aircraft grade aluminum. They are, as you have found, a little more expensive. The average price is around $15.

As I said earlier, I'm using both the NS steel string and classical models.

In the video Augie mentioned, Tommy is using the Planet Waves NS Dual Action capo, not the NS. He does hold up the NS at about 0:40. where he says "This is another Planet Waves, that is deadly accurate as well."

All this talk about the NS Capo touched off a vague memory in my old brain, so I went to my music junk pile and found a brand-new unused NS Capo Tuner. It appears similar to the one shown here, but has a chromatic tuner as well. I don't know if it is as good as the one being discussed, but it seems to mention all the benefits of the regular NS so I am going to give this sucker a try. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I think this thread got accidentally "hijacked" from my original post. Here's the NS capo I'm talking about:

This one adjusts with the thumbscrew so you only have exactly the amount of pressure you need, which is why (along with the offset design) it doesn't distort the tuning.

The NS capo tuner (below) is more like the Kyser capo (which I don't care for), and is spring loaded.



As you can see, the NS is much smaller and lighter (and doesn't look as dangerous).

Craig, I think mine will look better for protection in a dark alley, but I now realize it is spring loaded; however, I am happy to find it, so I can replace the 1960's model that has the plastic coating on it and snaps in place when you put it on the neck. Besides, I can't play diddly like you guys do, and in addition, I have digital hearing aids in both ears, which make my treble strings sound like Duane E. on a really bad day (my customized twang when I give it a whang). Since I probably play out of tune most of the time, I intend to use my new find until I can get my music store buddy to order the NS for me. Thanks for pointing out the difference.

It's a Hamilton. I think I have one of these in a drawer or a box somewhere. Worked great...well, pretty good on my old Harmony Hollywood archtop back in the '60's. I think I built up the pad with some Dr. Scholl's pads I found in the bathroom closet.
