Chet Tinkers the Bigsby

Chet and Anita do "Makin' Believe" in the Gannaway films. Chet has Something Strange going on in the handle on his Bigsby

Those Gannaway color clips are badly synched. It's a shame. You would think they would take the time to get it right. I've seen some of them off by at least a whole second which is a terrible thing to try to follow.

He was doing a lot of fussing on the 6121. It took him a few tries before he settled on the handle we're familiar with today

The rest of the vid is in sync ? Still say what the audio plays and what the fingering shows is not even close. Different phrases.

So what are we to notice about the Bigsby arm ? Too short a shot to really see what I'm looking for ?

Right around that time he was doing a lot of experimenting with different bends of rods before he settled on the "chet handle" we're familiar with. The one on this 6121 looks a little different than the one on his CGP prototype seen on, for example, the humoresque or arkasas traveller vids made in the same series. I think the guitar on georgia camp meeting had a bigsby handle with a bit of a hook on it.

Just an obseration about how things like that came about.

btw... you can stop those vids by clicking on the double bar looking marker at the left of the progress track
