Gretsch Hall of Fame Country Gentleman Production Totals

Several were wondering what the production totals will be for the Gretsch Chet Atkins Hall of Fame Country Gentleman G6122-1959HOF. (The orange flamed maple CG.) I sent a note to Joe Carducci and here is his reply:

Hi Chuck,

Global production of the G6122-1959HOF Chet Atkins Country Gentleman... seventyfive (75) guitars.

Thanks Chuck,,,,well that's almost exactly what Paul told me it would be from the start of the orange HOF guitar project. I suppose Gretsch has decided to hold it that small number. There's no telling what value these guitar will attain in future years. I'm glad I went ahead and bought one when I had the opportunity! I appreciate you giving us the update.

The new 6130 Dynasonic Roundup Knotty Pine Western 2009 production run was also 75.

Thanks for that info Chuck! I put money down on one at Broadway Sound just last week and will pick it up at CAAS in July. They had two when I got mine so there may still be one left. I wonder where they are on that production total of 75? Have they already produced all 75 or... how does that work? Also, maybe one of you who already have one can tell me, are the HOFs numbered any differently and are the HOFs numbered consecutively in a block of serial numbers? Just wondering. Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to provide any info on this.

I read a book by Dan Duffy, the guy who used to sign the warranty cards at the Gretsch Brooklyn factory and he said they tended to make guitars in 100 unit runs.

I imagine it's the same at Terada (where today's Gretsch guitars are made). I'm sure the 75 were done as a single run and all of them are finished. That only makes sense. They are not like a guitar made by John D'Angelico, one at a time.

Just where they all are right now... who knows?

I asked Joe Carducci (probably at CAAS '09) about my 2006 Nashville Classic with sunburst finish. I was asking him if he knew how many were made with that finish. He was not totally sure, but he thought it was probably a batch of a dozen or possibly two dozen. They also made some Nashville Classics that year with natural finish and Gretsch orange in similar numbers.

Well Guys and Gals; I went to kBroadway Sound last October and not even knowing about the guitar; I was showed one and they let me play it. They told me the story that there were only 72 buing made. They had sold 12 so far and the one that I played on was in lay-a-way. They had only two more coming and I went ahead and put the money down for one. I got it in Jan and they told me that they only had one more coming. Apparently that changed and maybe they got a couple more in.

Quick Question: Is there any way to change the arms without taking the strings off? It came with the swivel rod and I want to put the stationary support for the rod. Got any suggestions?

You will have to take the strings off to change the brackets. The set screw is on the bottom side of the bracket.

I got corrected. They didn't make them as a full run of 75. Not sure how many at a time were being made but I was in error.
