Who wrote this?
Jamuary of 2010 "Art" asked about attaining Chet's tone and someone gave an excellent response that ran just over two pages long.
Any idea who wrote it?
Here's part of the text:
To try to capture the tone of Chets early 60s recordings is virtually impossible. First of all the chain of recording to get the sound would cost you thousands of dollars. Bill Porter, the engineer on Chets records from that period explained what he did to get that sound and believe me, there is really no way you are going to put on a set of headphones and get that sound.
Bill distinctly remember first of all the amp that Chet had. He remembered the sound that it had was totally different than your standard fare Fender amp that virtually everybody used, even down to the not 6L6 outputs that the Standel had. I forget the outputs in the Standel, maybe 807s, whatever.

I know it wasn't me. I don't know that many words.

Re: The Project
It might be John Knowles but I didn't note the name when I saved it years ago. It's a beautifully thought out piece. I just went over it with a spell checker to clear up a word or two.

Re: The Project
You've heard me ask for Paul Yandell stories. I can see some of you wondering just what I need/want. here's a list of suggestions...
Perhaps (if it applies) a sense of the life being a sideman on your own and how you keep busy getting a paycheck (keeping booked).
Bits of Paul's humor.
Things about him that made you laugh.
Something you may have seen him do or say that really stuck with you as being different than other people.
“Paul was always ____”
and (if it applies) a sense of what it was like playing for/with Paul.
"Paul was a great guy" is already in. We know he was. We want to open the light on him some more because, to most ticket buyers he was just Chet's sideman. Also, sideman stories, your own or what you saw are welcome.
Not saying you should volunteer any or all of the topics. That's just a general list of suggestions
