Gretsch country gentleman hall of fame owners problem

I agree. My 3 JT Gretschs are hands above in quality and craftsmanship ! Some of the best guitars I've owned in my 50 years of playing bar none.

The 'wrong' nameplate on the HOF is a collectable item IMO. It's staying on my guitar for sure.

The Gretsch guitars made in Japan are miles better and more consistent than quite a few
that were made here in the United States.
My Gibson CG had a twisted neck out of the case and after waiting for 6 months for it Gibson
said it would be another 6 months for them to fix it. So much for American made being better!
Give me the Japanese made Gretsches any day.
Does it play good other than the nameplate? I am sure it does.

Yeah, my reference was to the spelling (and usage) of English words in other countries, not the quality of guitars made in other countries. I'm sure we're all familiar with the owner's manual "Instructions" that accompanies various electronics and other products produced over seas, and how one has to translate these instructions into meaningful sentences, etc. Kind of like "Up the street the soldiers, they're marching down", or "Throw the cow over the fence, some hay!"

I wasn't going to mention this, because I think Gretsch is making a great guitar now. I noticed my nameplate a little over a week after I got my guitar back on Feb 2. I contacted Joe Carducci and he said he will ship me the corrected nameplate as soon as they are made.
I will be installing the corrected nameplate on my guitar. I don't think it will make the guitar anymore valuable or collectable with a mis-spelled nameplate. The mis-spelled pickguards in the 60's aren't any more valuable or collectable. I'm sure there have been way worse mistakes at other guitar companies over the years.
In my opinion Gretsch is making the best guitars and the highest quality guitars that it ever has! Especially these G6122-1959 HOF Country Gentleman's, the G6122-1959 Country Gentleman/Nashville Classic and the G6120-CGP.
By the way, in my dealings with Gretsch, their customer service is excellent!

I spoke to Joe Carducci a week ago and he told me about the nameplate problem. I'll probably replace the misspelled one but keep it for posterity. Well, gotta go hop into my Frod Musstang and pick up a Filly of Fish sandwich at McArnold's.

I too just bought one of the misspelled headstock HOF's. Love this guitar. It is from the second batch. I emailed Gretsch (Fender) support to see if they will send me a spell-checked plate.

Is it true that there will be only the two batches of 20 made of these?
