For a long time I didn't care for the fake F holes but these days I've come to like them a lot. Playing gigs on an acoustically live archtop and fighting feedback did the trick for me. These days I think they're kind of cool, like the porthole windows on early T-Birds, I see them as iconic.
One of my guitars is a 6120 DC in black with gold painted-on F holes. When I first saw the guitar I thought that they were real and that I was seeing the wood on inside surface of the backplate. When I got closer I realized, of course, that I had been duped but I was surprised by the effect.
That having been said, I've always loved the looks of the 6122-II.
