Rande: you've never seen me talk politics and you haven't read my mind when the line is long in the grocery store, or heard me complain about taxes and on and on and on. I'm just a human (at least I am part human ), and experience tells me that our species takes everything for granted much more often than not ... I know that is certainly the case with me. Fortunately, for me, picking the guitar takes my mind off of politics and taxes.

Several Chetboard friends have emailed me or sent me a private message expressing concern that I haven't been posting, noting that I had normally been a prolific poster. I appreciate that concern very much but it is unwarranted. I am doing well.

I just do not have an interest in music right now. It's something that I go through periodically, and it is not related to whether someone on the chetboard makes negative comments about me. That water went under the bridge long ago.

I am in one of those phases where, if I want to compose a tune or "play" a tune, I do it in my head. I have the ability to watch myself play tunes in my head, and I go through stages where that satisfies me and takes the place of actually playing. This phase won't last forever ... it could be over with by this weekend or it could last until the summer ... I don't know. Either way, I am doing alright.

I've given some thought to maybe learning some jazz fingerstyle, and at Richard Smith's suggestion, I bought Jim Nichols' DVD, but I haven't played it yet. I might experiment with it this weekend, and I might not. I'm doing a lot of reading right now, and I'd like to finish up several books that I've had in a partially-read state for a long while.

Anyway, thank you again for your concern, but no need to worry.
