Re: Lenny Breau's brother Denny...
Maybe he should be invited. As in "booked"
http://dennybreau.com/
He may not travel well. Some just don't like the road at all and most of his gigs seem to be confined to Maine. Playing guitar for a living can be lucrative but often is not. He may not be able to afford the trip.
I just sent him an email inquiring if he ever thought of making the trip and also invited him to join us here on the board.
We can always hope...

Thanks for sharing that Norm. I loved it. I stood right in front of Lenny and watched him play in a booth at a NAMM show many years ago. He was "showing out" for me since I was the only one around at the time. What an absolutely incredible talent!

Re: Lenny Breau's brother Denny...
Lenny made some sides with Buddy Emmons on steel. The story goes that Buddy was playing in a club and a mutual friend brought Lenny by and suggested Buddy let him sit in. Buddy had never heard of Lenny and (wisely) had a policy of not letting people he didn't know sit in.
Whoever it was did some arm twisting and Buddy reluctantly took a chance and was, of course, jaw droppingly surprised. I don't know how much time they spent jamming at the gig site but it did lead to some recording featuring the two. Being heavily jazz influenced it of course didn't catch on or sell well.
The guys we admire had to be really careful about allowing 'just anybody' sit in. I remember one show I watched Chet perform at. Some guy in the front row shouted a request from the Hank Snow duet album. I don't remember which one. Chet said "I don't do that one because Hank isn't here." The guy said he would be glad to come up and play Hank's part. Chet gently declined the request and went on with the show.

Norm, I don't know that story, but I have a bootleg recording of Lenny sitting in with the Redneck Jazz Explosion (Danny Gatton and Buddy's band) at The Cellar Door in VA from 77 or 78.
Thanks,
George
