Here's a really pretty 1960 Gretsch single cut Country Gent, (look at that grain on the back)!

Grain like that makes me think all the more that the padded back was a stupid idea. I know this guitar doesn't have it but can you imagine a ring of screws and snaps drilled into that?

I've never seen anyone on ebay go to those lengths to display all the details of a guitar!! Perhaps they are just "detail" people! or they really want to sell it.

First of all...I am not selling that guitar...but, I have found that if you allow for a lot of detailed pictures, you will get top dollar for a instrument that is in top shape. It reassures the buyer that your description matches the instrument. That seller went to a lot of trouble for his auction pics, but that should pay off in spades and he probably knows that.

A few years ago, I picked up a dead mint 91 CEC on ebay for 640 shipped. The pictures honestly made it look like the guitar had been re-finished by Ray Charles or had been laying in water. I spoke at length with the guy about it because the pictures were saying one thing and he was saying another. When I got the guitar, it had hardly been played and the case looked like it had just come from Gibson. He was just catching the grain at a weird angle with the flash. Heck of a score.

There's no question Jay that the seller really did a fine job of showing the guitar and I hope for his sake the right person sees the ad and likes what they see. I've seen a lot of really bad pictures on Ebay, this ad was the exception. I think that seller is doing it right... my comment about really wanting to sell it.. wasn't that serious.. Of course they want to sell the guitar otherwise they would not have advertised it! I agree with you about the woods. They are beautiful and the seller did a fine job of showing it with his photos.

I bought a Rickenbacker 370/12 from these folks. It came in mint condition and professionally set up. It had been cleaned and polished with a new set of strings on it. I didn't have to do a thing with it - ready to play right out of the packaging. They are very detail oriented and stand behind their sales.
