I was working part time at a country music station in Atlanta while going to school and doing odd jobs at the East Point
Opry on the weekends when Chet came to play at the Opry in the fall of 1960 and I had a chance to chat with him
backstage. I was impressed with his kindness and even though he was already a star, he took the time to talk to a
young disc jockey about his music and some of his electronic do-dads he was working on at home in his basement..
Through the years I have always enjoyed his playing and sometimes singing and remember what he told me about being
yourself and always treat people like you would like to be treated.. WE will sure miss him and his keen wit..... Thanks
Chet.
