ALL this BS can be easily worked around . . .

I've re-strung thousands of guitars with Bigsbys by using a capo to hold tension on the string being installed -it's that simple. If I don't have a capo handy, I just use my thumb . . .

The only time this doesn't work is when ALL strings have been removed for cleaning or repairs to the instrument, or a new Bigsby installation. That's when I pinch the eyelet slightly out of round so it doesn't slip off the pin . . .

Save yourself hundreds of bucks by installing a BRASS LOCKING NUT -that's all you need ! ! !

That Sta-tuned lock FLOATS even when locked.

The cause of the instrument falling out of tune in the video is due to string (usually WOUND G) friction through the nut slot -that's all it is. This is totally resolved with a locking nut, and an optional violin tuner on the G string . . .

RE: nuts. a properly cut nut won't pinch...Period. I
Sloppy attachment at the tuning post can cause slippage.

I've never had a problem with my old gent going out of tune for either of the above reasons. Every guitar will detune a little if you're playing a four hour gig or suchlike.
A locking nut is just another gadget. Paul had a couple of things like that on a couple of his guitars. >shrug< If it floats the boat, fine.

I'm done talking about attatching at the string bar. I've made my fantasy known and am waiting for Joe Carducci's response.

We all have our own favorite method for stringing the d__n thing and in an imperfect world I guess it will have to do.

I have a Grand Nephew (a pretty good fingerpicker who couldn't make five cents with it) who's in a metal tribute band makin' a killing ! ! !

I just set up his new Jackson with a Floyd Rose vib with a Leo Quan brass locking nut.

I handed it to him, telling him to un-lock the nut and tune it with his strobe. When he finished tuning, I asked for it back. I locked the nut, and took hold of the vib handle jerking it up 'n down like one of those paddleballs from when I was a kid.

I kept repeating this 'til it NO LONGER went out of tune. I told him to do this every time he re-strings . . .

There's a company that makes graphite composite nuts, that you need diamond files to cut the slots that are the best nuts that I've ever seen for keeping tune ! ! !
