It's raining here and I am following links on Youtube again and seeing what I can find. I ran across a couple of great young players that I enjoyed...I wanted to smash my guitars after hearing them, but I have resisted the impulse so far. One of them is 13 years old...when I was 13, a coherent thought would have shattered my mind in a million pieces. :)

Chelsea Constable playing China Town My China Towm

Her 13 year old sister, Grace, playing Luttrell

The two of them together playing an instrumental version of Mark Knopfler's Sultan's of Swing...it ain't fingerstyle so much, but I liked it

There's another video out there of them playing Jerry's Breakdown that is pretty good, too, but I lost that link.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I did.

There are several laudable and impressive things about Chesea's rendition of Chinatown.

1. She's not using a thumbpick. Playing thumb style guitar using a flatpick is a hard learned skill and few can manage it but she obviously has it nailed. Along with that comes her slick skill at being able to tuck that pick out of the way and retrieve it when she needs to like a sleight of hand magician.

2. She didn't let her echo or background distract.

3. She used her Bigsby skillfully and correctly. Far too many people who post Atkins covers either ignore their Bigsbys altogether or treat it like they're afraid they will break. Chet used his a lot and she learned how from him. Go thou and do likewise.

I'm impressed.

Thanks for posting these, Ray. What I was impressed with was how clean they were. It would be easy to miss a note or two with these songs! It seems that I've seen Chelsea at the convention but I'm not sure?

They were a C.A.A.S. convention and posted a video of them playing with Tommy Emmanuel.
