The Chetboard

Last October I wrote and recorded a tune for Marie Yandell, but decided to just keep it to myself until recently. A few days ago I shared it on Facebook (Marie liked it, fortunately). But I forgot to post it here. So, here 'tis. Just as with my other recordings over the past several months, there's lotsa mistakes.

Jack and Ken: thank you very much. I wish it did not have such bumbling mistakes, but I have gotten used to the fact that all of my stuff is going to have obvious mistakes until (unless) I get to the point of practicing again, which is not seeming to be likely, but who knows.

Hi Bruce......In a word I am amazed at how you could allow your talent to stagnate for long periods of time like you do. If I could make the stretches that you can and I had a tenth of the skill that you do, I would practice all the time. As it is with the limited skill and finger dexterity of a 70 year old guy with arthritis I have to do the best I can. You Sir are a gem with your composing and playing. I wish you would get a fire burning for all of us to enjoy in our waning years. I am your #1 fan!

I appreciate what you say, very much.
You know, it used to be that I could manage, fairly well, having a lot of different things to do. Now that I've been retired for several years, though, that ability seems to have gone away. I don't know if it is because I don't really HAVE to do anything, and therefore have no real need to manage my time, or if it is because I lose energy as I age (certainly true), or both and maybe plus some other factors, too.

For the past year, what I have most wanted to do is read and write. And, at the end of the day, there just hasn't been any interest in picking any. Maybe once a month I'll decide to pick for thirty minutes, or an hour if I stumble on something neat. Should I make an effort to force myself to manage my time so that I can accomplish multiple things each day? Maybe, but then what the hell's the point in being retired? (I realize that last sentence is a bit sarcastic, but it is not total BS.)

Maybe I should try a reboot. Who knows. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, though. I really appreciate it.

Bruce, you've got me beat all the way across the board. I haven't been practicing, am not retired,and whether I can read and write is subject to opinion ! I also don't manage time all that well and never have. ( Aside from all that I guess I do OK.)

Seriously, I couldn't get any sound on this video at all but I'm sure it's as good as everyone says it is. Wish I could hear it for myseIf though.

I was able to hear your other post and enjoyed it. I'll try this video again at a later date. Maybe it will work then. ( To try the same thing over and over and expect different results is a sign of insanity except when dealing with computers!)
