A great DVD!

For any of the folks out there who have never listened too (and watched) Chet's great training DVD entitled "The Guitar of Chet Atkins" (is that possible?), here it is on YouTube!

While personally I've always felt it was a little more "advanced" than it was "intermediate" (as I believe it was described), it is still the single most valuable training aid I have ever found for the learning of fingerstyle, or the Chet Atkins style guitar! Chet goes into detail to explain each tune, names chords, etc. and you get a good view of his hands etc. while he actually plays each tune through, and then he breaks down each song, explains how he plays it, etc.

Invaluable to the player who already is fairly familiar with fingerstyle guitar, but just wants to try to play it like "Mister Guitar!"

Yes it is the greatest.

I have it on VCR and on DVD and I also have all the tab to it. I'm pretty sure all the tab is online somewhere. From what I understand, he did all that in one take, in one day in his basement.

I've been working on Londenderry Air off of that DVD for some time now.

Oddly, that's one of the very few renditions of this tune (and/or "Danny Boy") by Chet, that I never particularly cared for! I realize he was trying to emulate the sounds of a bagpipe in his arrangement, but I much prefer his original version recorded way back in the '50's I believe! Beautiful chord progressions though!

I bought this Video of Chet years ago just to watch Chet play and speak...wonderful DVD...Jack

I just noticed something about this video that I had never paid any attention too, in all the years I've had it.

Chet "switches" guitars midway through the video.

On most of the tunes he is playing his Gibson Studio Classic "Fleur de Lis" model, but then he changes over to the Gibson Studio Classic "standard model" !

I wonder why...
