When John McClellan was here last Saturday at the Oklahoma Chetpickers Club meeting, he shot out the beginning of the tune "A Man and a Woman" and then went onto something else. I should have stopped him right there because I remembered that tune from my youth but never knew where it came from or its name. The tune stuck in my head and now I've decided to try and learn it. Why do I try to learn a new Chet tune when I still haven't gotten down all the other Chet tunes I've tried to learn, am I the only one that happens to?

Anyway, I have desperately been looking for the tab to that song and found that John Knowles tabbed it out in one of his quarterlies - I purchased it and it'll be in the mail to me soon. I've also found that it's in an old Chet music book called, "Note for Note". I remember at one time I had it but can't remember what I did with it. I do realize that in 'Note for Note' there is notation only. If any of you have the tab for "A Man and a Woman" could you let me know please.

Here is the best version of the song I've found, and it's Claes Neeb from his home movies back in 1988. I've seen all kinds of his videos and he is great at the Chet tunes. The is the best recording of the tune that I can find, volumes great, sound is great, and a guy can actually see the fingerings from watching the video if he wanted to. Here it is:

The man has done his homework...

I see he resembled Chet physically when he was younger, too.

The song is officially called Un homme et une femme and it's the title song of the French movie from '66 with the same name. I have a tef-file (for TablEdit or TEFview) of Chet's arrangement. I can send it to you if you could give me your e-mail address.

I have the tab in pdf, this is a great tune. One I'll definately have to learn this one. It's always been one of my favorites. I love how the harmony part comes in. Was that Paul also on this song?

Micah Yandell and I talk about this guy all the time and how much we like his playing. He can play some pretty difficult tunes like Jordu and What'd I Say and get Chet's tone and licks with a super touch. I remember him being at CAAS years ago, he knocked everybody out when he played. And he's very down to earth and a nice guy. When it comes to listening to a "Chet copy" he's about as close as anyone I've ever heard,,,a great player!

Being the fact 1988 is going back quite some time, does anyone know if Claus is still active in performing?

It looks like Chet and Claes Neeb got together more than a few times.

Here's a 1992 Chet Atkins Workshop where Claes Neeb shows Chet some things about the tune:

Hi Jack,

Just say'in, your tabs have done more for me than all other resources combined. I appreciate them very much - they are my 'chet bread and butter'.

When I look for tabs I go to your site first but problem is, I always stop after looking through 'Chet Atkins' tab - I don't ever think of going to the 'Advanced' tab. I'm excited to see 'A Man and a Woman' there. I'll be checking it out. Thank you a ton! By the way, here's a bio on Claes Neeb that may be interesting to some:

David, I saw him at the 2005 CAAS and I have a copy of the schedule for many of the subsequent conventions and he is listed as a performer at the 2006 convention only. I made a short video of him at the 2005 convention and he played a great version of "What'd I Say".
