Ya know I was thinking it would be neat if Fred Gretsch made not only the solid top Black Gretsch with the gold sparkle f holes, The Super Chet model, but also the single pickup roundup with the white plate across the treble hole. I always loved the sound of that guitar in the old 50's opry shows. Chet could really play that guitar! Has anyone tried the new roundup Gretschs' with the leather trim? Just curious.

Here´s a similar one to mine, a 2009 year 6130 Roundup Knotty Pine Western - KPW. Two TV Jones Dynasonic pickups and a Synchrosonic bridge.

Chet´s was the Model 6121 with a Bigsby, mine hasn´t got one. As you all know Chet didn´t like the DeArmond pickups because he thought they sucked the sustain out of the strings. I think they sound great and really sings through an amplifier with a good bass response. In the old days 450 of the Dynasonic version of the Model 6130 were produced. It was later made with Filtertron pickups, but then Chet didn´t play it anymore. My modern one is one of a limited run of 75, but the 6121 Chet Atkins model w/Bigsby is still being produced to the best of my knowledge.

Vidar,

Here's the G6121-1955 Chet Atkins Solid Body w/ Leather Trim that probably comes closest to what you're refering to:

John, that´s the one! Like mine but with a Bigsby. You deserve a Merry Christmas wish for that one. :P
