These were great. He got a wonderful tone and he had a great touch, too. I really enjoyed these songs, especially this one. It one of my favorites that Chet played. Thanks for posting this.

Apparently Matt is from the UK. Like you said, he has a great tone and touch. It still amazes me how much influence that Chet had and still has worldwide!

I'm always amazed by that ongoing influence myself. There's a lot of Youtube video and audio of Chet and his buddies out there and and any one who checked it out would have to be impacted once they saw it. If some one mentions a player to me, that's the first thing I do is go to Youtube and do a search and see how he or she plays. I remember a while back in a used CD/Record store, two young guys were looking at a CD of Mark Knopfler and Chet and wondering what those guys had in common. I told them they were both finger style players who had heard each other and they admired each other enought to record together. One of them bought the CD and I hope got influenced that way. Chet still has a large following and not all of them are as old as I am, for sure.

Hello, just found all these posts re my videos on YouTube. Thanks a lot for the great comments! I've loved Chet for while now, but only in the last couple of years have I got down to playing it proper. I got my first Gretsch a month ago and it hasn't left my hands since. I was learning his stuff on a classic guitar, which was good because when I came to the Gretsch it was nice and easy! I work as an arranger for Musicsales in London, so I'm pretty ok with transcribing stuff, now it's good to try and play it too. I did the backings myself with Garageband playing the bass and snare and me on acoustic. I did try and faithfully copy the bass lines as I think that lends an air of authenticity even if it is midi. Thanks again for listening, I'll be posting some more soon...
