Chet Atkins - Snowbird live ACL

It is not considered a Christmas song, but back in my DJ days when this song came out we played it every time it snowed. It caught on as a 'weather alert' for the local audience which prompted them to listen for road conditions and school closings. I dare say during the winter months for many years it got the most air-play of any instrumental record. It is still popular today and if it is played on the air in this area many who hear it still check outside to see if it is snowing.

This is Chet and Paul live on Austin City Limits in 1978 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J73TLFhe ... re=related

If you notice the song end Paul works the 'wah' pedal with his right foot to 'wah' the last note. You can also see Paul's steady foot-pat timing for his perfected rhythm playing behind Chet.

This is always been one of my favorite Chet tunes. It is just a beautiful melody and he plays it so beautifully. One bit of clarification though. I believe what Paul is playing at the end of the tune is a "volume" pedal and not a "wah" . If you listen closely you can hear that it's actually changing the volume up and down and not the tone like a "wah" pedal would do ... either way, a great tune.

Thanks Phil,
For the clarification, and if Paul were still with us he also would have pointed that out. We got to keep things accurate as Paul did so many times on the CB.
