I hope you enjoy. Kind of a spur of the moment recording. Mostly wanted to hear how the new strings sounded when amplified (I normally piddle with the Godin unamplified).

That's very good. A nice arrangement and the Godin with new strings sounds good as well. The new nylon bass strings adds some 'country twang' to your bass progressions that I enjoyed about the piece, and served as a reminder to change strings on my Godin GC. Thanks!

I'm undecided on these strings (Pro Arte). The bass is okay, but I'm a bit disappointed in the treble. I may try a different brand next time around (maybe the brand that Richard Smith recommends in an interview on one of his DVDs). These strings are better than the brand I had used before, though, in that they at least stay in tune for a decent amount of time.

I've used the Pro Arte hard tension for years and they do a nice job on most of my guitars; however, on my Buscarino Cabaret I had a problem with intonation. John B. recommended I try La Bella 500P, which are more like flat wound, and they did improve the intonation. They have gotten so expensive I'm thinking of mixing the Pro Arte bass with different treble strings to see if that works better....and less expensive. I usually buy the Pro Arte in a 10 set box and save a little.

You keep 'fine tuning' things and it shows....sounding better and better all the time.

I could wind up doing a mixed set, too, although I hate paying money to someone and only get half of what I expect. So, as a first step, I'll try Richard's recommendation, and if that doesn't pan out, I'll try GHS (recommended by Doyle Dykes). If that doesn't pan out, I guess it's customization time.
