Be patient and listen to this guy, Chuck Hunter, discuss how he plays. He's doing a seminar attended by people who came to hear him so, natrually, he's detailing his outlook on playing. Remarkably good, smooth player.
The guitar is a poser... seven strings and "fan fret" fingerboard.
Can't help but think of Lenny while he plays...

Originally made popular by Ralph Novak of Novax Guitars, Fanned Fret Guitars are characterized by frets that "fan out" at different angles instead of the more standard frets that are perpendicular to the instrument’s neck. Proponents of this style of guitar claim benefits that include more comfortable and ergonomic play, better intonation, and better control of the tension of the strings across the fretboard.
Lenny would have liked this guy...and the guitar...
...that's how it looks to me...The opinion expressed above is my own and does not necessarily reflect the views of this station. Your mileage may vary...

Re: Lenny would have liked this guy...and the guitar...
Rickenbacker had a guitar with fanned frets. I played one once when I was much younger, and had no sense of what they would be good for. At the time, I had no use for it. Now, however, I would like to play one again, and see how they work with extended turnings. I bet you could get a richer bass sound out of one of those if you worked at it. Not much use for it in straight ahead country or rock and roll....but I could be wrong.
Thanks,
George

Norm,
Thanks for posting that. I never heard of this guy or that type of guitar before. I think Lenny and Chet would have liked it.
I'll be checking out some of his other videos.

I recall seeing a similar guitar backstage at a Chet concert in Jacksonville, Fl. A fan was showing Chet his acoustic with curved frets. He was trying to play it but not too well. Chet watched but I don't recall if even touched the guitar and did not seem to have much interest.
