I took down my Stardust arrangement on YouTube

Postby Norm » Wed Dec 19, 2012 12:13 pm

I got a 'content match' notice for the song and decided I'd rather take the song rather than engender a "strike" against my account.

Copyright is what it is and I had it up there for a good while...

You have a good one too, ol' hoss...

I did see a glimmer of hope.

Some of the YouTube entries have ads on them and when YouTube said it had matched my Stardust to a third party they indicated that sometimes an offer is made to attach and ad to the YouTube posting. The monies put up by the "sponsor" would go to the copyright owner. I doubted HF would go for that so I just pulled it.

Something like that seems fair. Not as lucrative as full licensing for the copyright owner but better than nothing.

I may try re-doing the thing under a different name since I worked hard on the piece. It's a little stagey but it's part of my musical legacy such as it is...
