If you don't have the DVD The Guitar of Chet Atkins you should get it. It teaches you how to play certain songs but, more importantly, it gives you a real sense of Chet as a person you'll likely not find anywhere else...
...that's how it looks to me...The opinion expressed above is my own and does not necessarily reflect the views of this station. Your mileage may vary...

That should do it.

Norm, I have that DVD and you're absolutely right! Totally aside from the tutorials, the viewer gets to see Chet up close - not as close as being around him in person, but you do get to spend some quality time with THE most well-known and admired guitarist who ever walked the earth. Some of the things he said while describing parts of the various tunes gave you an insight into his creativity - his wit - his humility - and a ton of down-to-earth advice on the guitar and the music business. The part at the end was most touching to me where he talks directly to the viewer on his view of himself in the music world and offers some real world advice to us wannabe's. I have learned many of the tunes on the video (certainly the ones that interest me the most) but some of the tunes are still a bit beyond my skills. Be that as it may - I still watch it about once a month or so partly for the entertainment value and more importantly - to feel his personality as best I can. If that seems like hero-worship - then maybe it is because that is what it is!

That's such a great song. I have the DVD, and I keep thinking I'll learn it. Gotta find some more spare time.
