I finally read that article on latency ... fascinating stuff. I was a bit surprised that the human ear can hear a sound within 3ms from when it reached the ear. That's pretty amazing. Most of our systems take tens or hundreds of milliseconds to respond.

If you are just doing youtube video's using the native mac software, you might not need any of that. Just playing through your amp for monitoring purposes while routing your guitar to the presonus sound device should be fine. I use low latency configurations only while using effects or software synths in Reaper or Sonar. When I am mixing or attempting to master something, I usually raise the latency up to free up my processor. Hopefully that article will help you understand what you are dealing with and why you have the delay. I would think by installing the presonus software drivers, you would have more options on latency.

Good clarifications, Roger. I don't expect to do anything but straightforward youtubes, but it sure is good to know more about mixing, in case I do get off my tailfeathers and decide to experiment with mixing. More importantly, I suspect a lot of folks on this board are interested in mixing, and your information could be invaluable to them.
