Because the royalties have to be paid to the ASCAP/BMI before the DVD's are made. The DVD's need to be made in bunches and all this means somebody has to put up the money and hope they sell enough to make a little profit.

This is Not an "all they gotta do is..." project. So far, Grossman is the only one to take the risk.

I think a DVD would sell well. He was not just a player, it's Mr Guitar we are talking from!! There are DVD's out from guitar players that aren't as popular as Chet.
Chet's family must own plenty of video material. Imagine to have a video of a complete concert!!!!

If anyone really feels this would sell - then the best thing to do would be to acquire the distribution rights to whatever material is available to put out on DVD. Once that is done, you could figure how many copies you would have to sell to at least break even. Surely someone who is a Chet fan with some extra money could do that if it truly would sell. I certain would buy a copy if it was within my budget to do so. Typical prices I've seen is $25.00 - $75.00 per copy for a one-hour video.

It looks as though Chet was on a European tour in 1969. There is a photo of him playing a very similar, if not the same, guitar in "Me and my guitars" in Amstedam. I would suggest that it was probably a "road" guitar that Chet used just for touring. I believe he had a Ramirez and an Estruch at that time, either of which would have been far too precious to trust on tour.
