Yakety Axe.......

Playing around with my Studio One recording gear and thought I'd have a try at Yakety Axe, used the telecaster with Allparts mini humbucker in the neck and S/Duncan 5/2 in the bridge, made a video at the same time but the camera has seen better days so thought I'd just post the audio.
So just for fun.....added a few pictures as the video cameras down.....

Al.....thanks for your comments, much appreciated. I fancy a Gretsch really but they are so expensive here in the u.k. with import and sales tax, so we keep plucking on the tele.

Pssssttt, Rob . . . Put your ear up real close to your screen ~ ~ ~

If you really want a Gretsch, and you know someone here in the US, you can get one DUTY-FREE at the US price plus shipping ! ! !

Have someone here:
1. buy one for you.
2. de-string it.
3. remove the Bigsby, bridge, tuning machines and knobs.
4. mask the pick-ups with masking tape (don't remove them).
5. write "REMOVE TEMPLATE TO INSTALL PICK-UP" on the taped pick-ups.
6. very carefully wrap & pack the hardware in a separate box.
7. loosen the trussrod until the neck is dead straight.
8. carefully pack the instrument SNUGLY in the case.
9. bag the case in a plastic bag or stretch-wrap.
10. securely box the case, double-taping it closed
11. ship the hardware box & case/guitar separately.
12. declare the instrument for an estimated amount of what you GUESSTIMATE it to be worth MNUS the hardware.
13. declare the parts as "returned for exchange-wrong finish" for an amount that balances what you declared the case/guitar for in order to come to the actual US replacement cost of the complete instrument & case.

You want to declare EVERYTHING at the actual US replacement price, so you can adequately insure it.

The instrument is NOW an 'INCOMPLETE OBJECT' and is DUTY EXEMPT if declared as such.

You might ship the parts a few days ahead of the guitar, so they don't cross customs at the same time.

It sounds like a lotta work, but $800.00USD saved is WORTH an hour's time with a couple screwdrivers, and a few bucks worth of bubble-wrap & boxing tape ! ! !

I've shipped alotta guitars abroad doing this . . .
