Tutorial on Papa's Knee

In response to requests for a tutorial on Jerry Reed's intro to Papa's Knee, I've put one together:

It also includes an alternate way of playing the intro, using a tuning of DADF#BE, and the ending includes a segment of me making an idiot of myself (wasn't hard to do), trying to play a tune I had forgotten how to play.

I now have the urge to do tutorials out of my system, and will get back to plain ole picking.

I wish I had thought to mention in the tutorial that one of the most important things you can learn from Jerry's intro to Papa's Knee is the value of good transitional licks, or what I call "filler material."

Some of Jerry's most popular licks were of the "filler material" variety. Something he probably carried over from his early days of session work, and especially in playing behind gospel groups. His very tasteful use of bass notes to transition between parts of the tune is one of the things that makes it such a lovable tune.
