Here's another Baldwin/Harmony classical clone if anyone is interested.

Hey Phil, is this one you'd recommend? I know you've talked about certain model numbers but how does this one
compare to others that you've spoken highly of?

The Harmony H-174...H-177...and the H6277 are exactly like the 801CP Baldwin classical (minus the Prismatone). The H-173 is sort of like it but a lower model and a little cheaper made. Notice this one has the same dark Pumpkin color like the original Baldwins. Silvertone also made a Baldwin shaped classical as well.

If I was gonna buy one, I would buy a H-174 or this one. Some of the other Harmony models that have the squared-off headstock look cheap. This one that's for sale on Shopgoodwill looks like it's pretty good quality.

One thing I did find odd with this one is the fingerboard extends into the soundhole. Usually Harmony/baldwin's have the fingerboard that ends before the soundhole and it's slanted.

The one in the database description doesn't have the fretboard extending over the soundhole as much, but it could just be the angle the photo was taken from.

Hey guys...

Does it appear like the Bridge on the Goodwill page is screwed or bolted down? The one on the Harmony pages doesn't have the same jewelery as on the Goodwill page.

The first Goodwill guitar link appears to have a normal bridge. The second one at Goodwill looks like it has screws or pegs...could be from a repair or modification. If I was going to get one to install a Prismatone on, I'd be replacing the bridge anyway. I might try for one of them, but I'm still a long way from affording a Prismatone. lol!

Doug, other than liking the original '82-'88 Gibson Piezo piezo pickup...I think Sam's pickups are THE best out there for nylon amplification. There's just a particular sound that pickup makes that cannot be replicated.
