Another Supertron question

Me again Margaret...I have to confess right up front that I do not own a guitar with a Supertron pickup! I do have a 1966 6120 Nashville with Filtertron pickups. I played a Viking with Supertrons about 30 years ago. So now I'm wondering what is the difference, tone wise / sound wise between a Filtertron and a Supertron? I know, I should'a already know'd this but I just want some opinions from folks that know, been there, heard that. Where could I go but to the Board? (J-O-A-K) Steve

I do have one on my old gent that I scored off a 1964 CG. I initially didn't like the tone of it and TV Jones sold me an alnico magnet to replace the ceramic magnet gretsch used in the sixties. I thought I got a mellower tone whenwe did this.

In theory, having the magnet's field evenly distributed by those double bars eliminated the theoretial spotty field generated by screw type polepieces.

Might not even make any discernable difference at all.

Some times we think things sound different because we want them to sound different. I still had to practice to get to play better
