Adding eq to my 6120

Yes, I'm crazy. I bought another Gretsch-a current model 6120. It plays very well, no buzz. All I'm doing is trying
to record with my rig--photo attached. My weak link (besides my chops) is the fender bullet I'm using. I'm recording
into cakewalk Pro Audio 9. The 6120 has a rich sound, but it's dark. I've tried using the Boss GE-7 to bring out the
bright sound I'm after, but it introduces a brittle quality--"noise". I can process the audio in Pro 9, but I'd like to
hear the finished sound while I'm playing. Performance Guitar has a modified GE-7 that supposedly eliminates
some of that noise of the stock GE-7 with more sophisticated audio parts. It's called the TTL Performance.($256). Has
anyone used it? If not, would anyone recommend an eq unit that introduces less noise into the chain? By the way, the
chain itself produces no noise or hum.

In case your can't see my image, my chain is gtr into eq into dd-3 into amp into ua-25 into pro 9.

Why do we all go through these agonies to craft a song? In my case it's to create "One red rose that I mean"
(Captain Beefheart).

I can't speak to that EQ. You could upgrade your computer software depending on what version of windows you are running and , what computer hardware you have. I used cakewalk pro audio many years ago. I cannot remember if it supports low latency drivers or not. I do know you can get Reaper, http://www.reaper.fm/and use it free even after the trial version explires, and purchase it for something like $50. It would be a major upgrade to pro audio 9. It does support low latency drivers. A low latency driver will allow you to monitor what you are recording, of course your hardware will have to support it as well. I am not down on cakewalk, I use Sonar Xl now and sometimes I will use Reaper depending on what I am doing. Just thought I would throw that out there.
