'59LTV - Thinking about pickup mod ?

I'm primarily a fingerstyle, Chet type player, and for that, nothing beats my '59 Gent Hall Of Fame. FABULOUS guitar !

But there are times when I feel like playing the shorter scale, slimer neck '59LTV. The LTV has TV Jones Classic pups. The guitar as is, sounds terrific, BUT I'm thinking about doing the same pup config as the Gent: TV Jones SuperTron in the neck, and Classic Plus in the bridge to get a similar type sound as the Gent. I know there are other very significant differences in the two guitars as body depth, 16" vs 17" bout, closed vs open "F" holes etc..

Anyone here have this pup config in your 6120 ? If so, do you like it ? ...wish you didn't do it ? Thanks !

I have a 6120 Double Cutaway and have considered doing the same thing. I really like the tone of the NC/CG and would like that sound from the 6120. I really like playing that guitar sometimes w/ the slightly smaller body, etc.

Mitch,
I upgraded the dynasonics on my 6120 DSW to a TV Jones SuperTron in the neck and a Classic Plus in the bridge three or four years ago and I love them. At the time I didn't realize that this configuration was exactly the same as the 6122 '59 and now the HOF. TV Jones was at CAAS that year and giving a discount for orders made at CAAS. I tried different guitars there at CAAS to get an idea of what I wanted and so happened to choose these pickups. I think they are great! I also like the looks of them on the 6120. Where the dynasonics were black the TV Jones pickups are white. At first glance my 6120 looks somewhat like the CGP with these pickups.

Greg-

Chet had two Supertrons in the 6120 double cut that he performed with (and recorded with a little) in the late '60's/early 70's. You can see it in that video from the Tom Jones show, and on the inside cover of Yestergroovin', and a lot of promo photos from that period.

Paul said he thought Chet gave that guitar to Spider Rich. (There are photos of Spider with what looks like Chet's guitar.) It also had a wide neck, like Chet's '59 CG.
