hi I played a la patrie at long an mcquade .i was wondering if it is a good guitar for playing Chet a Jerry tunes i played a concert model it was very cheap and i liked the sound but didn't try the pick up that you can get with it any thoughts on these guitar thanks

I don't know. I tried one too in my search for the perfect modern day Jerry Reed style classical guitar.
The necks are kind of thin on those. I know Jerry liked a thicker neck.

Supposedly Jerry also liked his action VERY low so any guitar you try in the store is probably going to have classical action which is fairly high.

It's very difficult to find a cheap modern classical with a thickneck.

Wow that one has been on the local craiglist for awhile.

Those Le Petrie are great guitars from what I've played of them. I would know more except the owner of the music store that I tried one at ran Eddie and I out of the store.

I got one of the cheapest models they make.. the Etude. It must have been made for kids to drag around the yard full of dirt!! because it is built like a tank (or wagon!).. Anyway... I paid less than $200 for it and it does everything a guitar should do. They sell on craigslist all the time for next to nothing, but they are actually very good guitars.. They even have a truss rod in the neck, but if you want a cut away, you will need to get out your saw.. Come to think of it... they would probably make a great candidate for a "Jerry" cut-way

Price ... The Etude... from what I can tell... is the same basic guitar with "zero" added.. It has basically no finish or bling whatsoever... so if all you care about is the basic guitar the Etude is it. If you want a better finish with some bling and perhaps some electrics.. The concert series would be better. They are all really good value for the money.
One thing about the Etude models is how the back and side woods are cut. The back and side woods of my Etude look "normal"... by that I mean that you can see the grain in the wood.. They are still laminate pieces of wood, but at least they look like wood. The later models of the Etude seem to be using a laminate that has no grain... It almost looks like something other than real wood. I personally don't like it. I guess I was just lucky when I found mine. It was sitting in a music store as a "used" clearance item. Probably one of their rental items!!.. Anyway, my etude looks exactly like the low end concert series without any finish or refinements. FWIW...

I have an Alvarez AC60SC that I picked up used that I am very happy with. It is mahogany with a cedar top. It came with what they call the 600T System. It has a built in tuner and is made to accept a microphone for use along with the pickup. I think the 600 T is Alvarez's best electronics system. I picked it up used for about what I could have gotten a new La Patrie and added a pickup, but the Alvarez has the on board pickup controls and the tuner that I wouldn't have had with the La Patrie. I think they now make this same guitar under a slightly different number.

Hey Larry... That looks like a pretty neat guitar .. this guys youtube demo shows off some of it's features... I don't think they make them any more, but they sure look interesting.
