Hey guys,,,I'd appreciate some info and input from those of you who own or have played thru the Fender Super Champ XD. I remember some positive comments a year or so ago but I'd like to hear more. Now I know its not going to be on par with my '65 Deluxe reissue, but how does it sound for small venue playing, and how about the effects - - do they sound good or are they hokey sounding? Can you adjust the "speed" or "number of repeats" in the delay mode? How about the chrous and the reverb - - how do they sound? How do you rate the speaker? (I believe its a 10") Finally, give me your overall opinion of this amp , , , , its fairly inexpensive as amps go, and I was just wondering about its features, both good and/or bad. I bought the Super Champ XD for my son Ben about 2 years ago. He plays clean tone on a tele w/ single coils and an Ibanez jazz box w/ humbuckers. Ben thumbpicks and plays jazz both solo and with a band, and runs a line out to a PA. We love the amp and have had no problems at all; tons of possible tones and effects to choose from. Search any guitar forum; seems like everyone loves this amp. I was at GC yesterday and noticed that it has been reduced to $200 - found the same price all over the intenet. I checked Sweetwater, and they are saying it is no longer available. Also, it is missing from the Fender site as well. Some are speculating that Fender may introduce a replacement at January NAMM.

At $200 you can't go wrong. Hope it helps,

I have a Superchamp XD. I like those kind of Amps because it's not to heavy and enough power for a small room.

I also had good results playing a couple outdoor gigs with it.

I have used it for about two years now. I usually use the clean channel, but Switch position 15 gives you a mellow kinda humbucker tone.
I am satisfied with the built in delay and reverb since that is all I use. So I show up with an Amp, guitar and tuner, and a gig bag with some spare cables and tubes and I am ready to go.

Thanks guys,,,I also received a few more responses by private e-mail and all were very positive,,,,,NOW,,here comes the kicker - - of course, Fender has discontinued the SCXD and will be replacing it with a redesigned amp the SCX2.

The new "tap" feature will be attractive for setting the delay, and THAT one feature is probably the most interesting for us, as 95% of the players on the CB will never use all the new voices, we mostly play the "clean" channel anyway.
There is a USB port for hooking up to your computer and that might interest a few of you also.

I wish Fender had provided a way to actually set the milliseconds for the delay but I understand that this would have added a lot of money to production costs so if I want that capability, I'll have to hook up my Lexicon PCM-42. It appears the amp won't be cheap, with a top-end list price of around $499.00 BUT, we all know "street price" should be a lot less.

At first glance, I believe I'd just as soon have the old Super Champ XD, everybody seems most happy with theirs. We all know how these big companies handle things,,,,,they've always got to come up with a "new and improved" model, even when the old one was just fine. My motto is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" . . . . . oh well, this is the latest and I wanted to share it with you guys.
