Project guitar for Prismatone: Gretsch

George, I know it's a one year old thread, but I thought you would appreciate this bit of information.

On the Blue Book of Guitar Values website I found out that your guitar probably is a "Electro Classic 6006" or a "Electro Classic 7495". Both were indeed fitted with a Baldwin Prismatone pickup.

ELECTRO CLASSIC (MODEL 6006/7495)
- classical style, specifications unknown, on-board piezo under bridge pickup and electronics (by Baldwin), mfg. 1969-1973.

Somewhere else I've read that the "Electro Classic 6006" was build between 1969 and 1971 and the "Electro Classic 7495" between 1971 and 1973.

Next to these models there were also the "Golden Classic 6000" and the "Silver Classic 6001". Both were Hauser models.

SILVER CLASSIC/CLASSIC HAUSER (MODEL 6000/6001)
- classical style, grand concert-sized body, spruce top, mahogany back and sides, round soundhole with decorative inlaid purfling, black top and back binding, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard with no inlays, slotted headstock with three-per-side open-style tuners, rosewood bridge, available in Natural finish, 14.25 in. body width, 3.75 in. body depth, mfg. 1961-1972.

I still have that guitar, and it plays great acoustically, and it soundeds better than my original 801 CP electrically. It did recently stop working, and I assume it is something in the preamp, as I can't imagine all the crystals in the prismatone going out. Then again, it could have been my original wiring that failed. I'll need to send the board back to Sam and see what he thinks.
