Ronnie, it does sound as good as it looks! As far as it comparing to the CG, like Rande said, it is a 6122-1959. It's the same guitar as the 59 Nashville Classic/Country Gentlman. This guitar is a G6122-1959HOF Country Gentleman. The only differences from the standard G6122-1959 Country Gentleman are:

Color: Orange
Painted F-holes: Trimed in white
Nameplate on headstock reads: Chet Atkins Hall of Fame Country Gentleman

Other than the above differnces it's just like a standard Gretsch G6122-1959 Country Gentleman.

I have it set up almost exactly like I want it now. I put a new Tru-Arc bridge on it with a very slightly wider string spacing as Gayle Moseley suggested. I'm going to put the stationary bracket on the Bigsby arm. It wasn't with the guitar with the guitar when I received it, but Gretsch is sending me one. I've used the stationary type for over 20 years now, so that's what I'm used to.

Thanks Mike. It sounds great. It's the perfect sound for Chet Atkins style I think. The pickups are the perfect combination along with the way the guitar is built. Great Chet classic 60's-70's tone!

I have several recording programs, cubase, ableton, and a couple of others I think. They were included with different amps & effects that I've bought through the years. Everytime I try to use one of those things I have to learn it again. I guess I need to take the time and learn at least how to use the basics of one of them. I find it easier to just set up my video camera and post on YouTube. Maybe I'll record something someway and post it in the future!

I didn't know you had a clip posted on YouTube. I'd looked back through the thread again and didn't see any link.

Like I'd said in a previous post in another thread, you'll learn the MOST by just playin' around with your effects and their various order in the signal path.

Just REMEMBER to WRITE DOWN:

1. A short description of the sound EFFECT

2. The effects DEVICE(S) that you used

3. The effect's LOCATION(S) in the signal path with OTHER EFFECTS

4. Specific SETTINGS of EACH effect(s) used to create that SPECIFIC SOUND EFFECT

I RECOMMEND creating a folder called SOUND EFFECTS, and then create TEXT documents within that folder for EACH SOUND EFFECT fully detailing the above.

Just REMEMBER to place you ECHO & REVERB LAST in the signal path, so you don't muddy up your end product.

That's pretty much it . . .

Next thing you know, you'll have a WHOLE LIBRARY of 'em ! ! !

Thanks Randy. Well, I'm not sure about the Bigsby arm yet. My new guitar was missing the fixed arm bracket. Gretsch is mailing me one at no charge. Right now it has the swivel bracket, which I'm not used to because I've been using the fixed bracket for the last 20 years or so. I do know that I've had to bend almost every one that I've ever had when I use the stationary bracket. That's one reason why Paul Yandell told Gretsch to ship them with the swivel bracket installed. I guess most people use the swivel bracket. I like the stationary bracket because it is always there when I need it. It gets in some guys way, but if it's adjusted and bent right it's perfect for me.
